Selectmen praise Visitor's Center coordinator

Over the years, Bruce Hutchins and the volunteers at the Cranberry Region Visitor's Center have welcomed visitors from all 50 states and 60 foreign countries.

On Tuesday, Selectmen honored Hutchins by giving him a for certificate of recognition for his work as the center’s coordinator, a position he took on back in 2005.

“He took on the project with enthusiasm and a goal to make the center self sufficient,” said Selectman Peter Teitelbaum. “And he’s done that.”

Board members noted that under Hutchins’ direction, advertising revenues now pay for the center’s operation. More importantly, Selectmen said the center promotes Wareham.

“We recognize and appreciate all the efforts to attract visitors to town,” said Teitelbaum.

According to numbers provided by Hutchins, in 2016 the center welcomed 1,570 visitors from around the world and 8,669 from across the United States.
