Senior Nicole Russo bids farewell to School Committee
Nicole Russo, student representative for the School Committee and outgoing senior, gave her last speech at Wednesday night’s School Committee meeting.
“I just want to say it’s been an honor for me to represent my peers on this committee,” Russo said. “I’m going to miss it. I have been very lucky to go through Wareham Public Schools, and this committee is a big part of what makes it so special.”
Committee Chairman Geoffrey Swett said Russo, who had been Committee student representative for two years, “has done an outstanding job.”
Swett said he counted himself lucky to have not only served with Russo on the committee, but to have been her tennis coach, too.
“You only got to see that thoughtful, articulate representative of the student body,” Swett said. “I got to see a person of extraordinary character.”
The Committee does not yet know who will be replacing Russo as student representative, but Swett said they should know soon. Wareham High School Principal Scott Palladino is in charge of picking Russo’s replacement.
