Share the love with valentines for seniors

Feb 6, 2022

This Valentine’s Day, the Onset Clay Room is inviting people to help put a smile on a senior’s face by collecting valentines to be delivered to local assisted living and nursing homes.

Mary Nogueros, the owner of the paint-your-own pottery studio, said she got the idea from a woman named Alison May who posted about it in a Facebook group for parents.

“We wanted to offer a place for people to come in and make cards,” said Nogueros.

She’s assembled all the supplies that one could need to create a dazzling valentine — all for free.

People are invited to come make valentines at the studio’s 1 W. Central Ave. location from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11. Valentines made at home can also be dropped off through Sunday.

Then, the valentines will be distributed to area seniors.

“We want to bring them a little bit of joy and let them know that there are people thinking about them,” Nogueros said.
