Sign stealing Trump opponent caught on camera
With two of his Donald Trump political signs already stolen, Dominic Cammarano didn’t want to lose a third. So, the owner of Gateway Gold and Pawn, located on Main Street, moved his last sign within view of his business’s security camera.
On Sunday at around 6 p.m., the culprit – whose identity surprised Cammarano – was caught on camera.
“I thought maybe it was kids, but the video showed a middle aged woman,” said Cammarano.
Video footage shows the woman, who remains unknown, struggling briefly to dislodge the Trump sign before fleeing. The sting of having the sign stolen was lessened by Trump’s victory on Tuesday, Cammarano said.
“She may have stolen my sign, but she couldn’t steal any votes,” he said.
However, he didn’t appreciate having his freedom of expression stifled over differing political views.
“It’s my right to have these signs,” said Cammarano. “Whoever did it kind of took my freedom of speech away in a small way.”
If caught, the woman could be charged with larceny under $250. Cammarano said he’s not looking to press charges.
Having Trump in the White House is victory enough, he said.
