Sip N’ Stroll to come to Wareham
Merchants Way will soon host vendors ranging from small local businesses to food trucks during the upcoming Sip N’ Stroll organized by promoter Lorna Brunelle. A date for the event has yet to be set, but Brunelle plans for a date that will not conflict with any other events happening in Wareham and Onset.
Brunelle has organized multiple Sip N’ Stroll events in Middleboro with over 80 vendors showcasing their handmade goods ranging from organic body care to specialty hot sauce. The event is free admission with alcohol served by the Bartending Service of New England.
Brunelle presented on the event during a Wareham Redevelopment Authority meeting on Thursday, Aug. 24.
According to Redevelopment Authority chair Dan Butler, the purpose of hosting the Sip N’ Stroll event on Merchants Way is to expose community members to the shops, restaurants and views the area offers.
“My goal is to revitalize [Wareham Village] and to get people back to the Village,” said Butler.
Brunelle described the event as “low risk” with “no cost at all” for the town.
“Regarding the budget for your community, I assumed that I would come in as an organization that is using your space and running the event,” said Brunelle.
The event will also offer an opportunity for Wareham High School students to check off some volunteer hours.
According to Brunelle, student volunteers will assist vendors with unloading, clean-up and booth breaks.
Brunelle plans for police and fire personnel to work the event in order to ensure safety.
“It’s great to have our police and fire [departments] present to show their support,” she said.
According to Brunelle, all proceeds from vendor booth sales will benefit The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts, an organization that aims to provide an inclusive atmosphere catering to aspiring artists of all ages.
