Local historian Lynda Ames will present a discussion about the darker side of local history on Wednesday, October 3, at 7 p.m. at the Spinney Memorial Library in Onset.

Ames, who is the author of In the Dark Woods of Wareham: Murder of the Eggman, will discuss crime, mysterious apparitions, strange happenings, and other historical goings-on in the Wareham, Mattapoisett, and Rochester areas.

Ames will highlight the particularly eerie parts of town and recommend other writings that make for great after-dark reading.
