St. Patrick’s Church Youth Ministry visits local nursing homes

Nov 18, 2019

St. Patrick’s Youth Ministry has recently started a new community outreach to offer support to the residents of the local nursing homes.

Following a Pumpkin Painting event in October with residents of All American Assisted Living at Wareham, the Youth Ministry brought Turkey Crafts and stuffed animal gifts to Tremont Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center on Nov. 10. Accompanied by Fr. Rowland, visit started and end with prayer and song.

In the spirit of the season, the Youth Ministry will soon host a Christmas party. Visitors are welcomed to attend on Sunday, Dec. 15 after the 10 a.m. Mass (at 11 a.m.) in the Parish Center, 82 High St.

“The youths are encouraged to express their faith by impacting their community in positive ways. We play taking time for sports, games and field trips to encourage activities that foster fair play, teamwork, empathy and social skills to develop healthy and faith-filled peer Relationships,” said Fr. Rowland. “We sing since praying through song brings out the joy in our faith, and lifts the spirits of those we visit in our community left with the reminder of God’s spirit in our lives.”

St. Patrick’s Church Youth Ministry is open to ages 10-18. The Youth Mass is celebrated at 6 p.m. during the third Sunday of every month at St. Patrick’s Church on 82 High St.
