Massachusetts State Police have identified the passenger killed in a fatal crash on Route I-195 in Wareham as 48 year-old Joseph Faria of Fall River.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Monday morning, just before the Route 28 exit. Officials said State Police and Wareham EMS and firefighters responded and found a heavily damaged black Nissan Titan pickup truck.

Inside the truck, first responders found two men, Faria and the driver, who has not be identified.

Faria was determined dead at the scene, officials said, and the driver, whose condition is unknown at this time, was taken to the Tobey Hospital for treatment.

While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said authorities are seeking the public’s help in finding the driver of a large construction dump truck with a gray body and steel tailgate believed to have been involved in the accident.

The truck’s rear driver side is likely damaged, officials said.

Anyone with information is urged to call State Police Detectives at 508-894-2600 or 508-759-4488.
