Stephen Melrose Ford of Onset passed away on October 21 at the age of 82, after a valiant struggle with cancer.  He was the son of Doris and Donald Ford, and the brother of Peter Ford of Old Orchard Beach.  He leaves his loving wife Bets, a blended family of Heather, Jenn, Brian, Kirk, and Kirk's wife Heather.  His daughter Jifka preceded him in death.  He was a favorite grampa of Zach, Dylan, Trevor, Emily, Aidan, Katie, and Marcie. 

 

Steve graduated from Illinois Wesleyan with a degree in Chemistry and worked for 43 years for Shipley Company (which became Rohm & Haas and then Dow).   After his retirement, he and Bets traveled extensively, including a trip to his ancestral homeland of Sweden.  His favorite trip was a safari in Southern Africa, where he took many photos. 

 

Steve called himself an avid amateur photographer.  He was past President and Zoom coordinator for the Cranberry Country Camera Club, and an active member of the Upper Cape Camera Club. 

 

He will be terribly missed by his family, many friends and neighbors, his fellow photographers, and the FitzPatrick family dog, Deegan. 

 

A memorial service will take place at the Church In The Pines on November 18, at 1:30pm.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve's memory to a charity of your choice.
