Stonebridge Bistro owner drops plans for deck addition
Amidst neighbors' concerns about parking, Stonebridge Bistro owner Justin Hadley told the Board of Selectmen on Tuesday that, for the time being at least, he is no longer seeking to build a deck at the back of the Onset restaurant -- a move that would have significantly increased the bistro's capacity.
Hadley said that he now only wants to make changes to the interior space by adding a handicapped-accessible bathroom, a change that would reduce the restaurant's capacity 77 to 75 people.
The possibility of building a deck drew concerns from area residents during a December 20 public hearing about the project. Neighbors were concerned that the project would worsen an already cramped summer parking situation in the area.
The Selectmen determined that since Hadley is only making interior changes to the restaurant, he does not need to get permission from the Board of Selectmen in order to proceed with those plans. Hadley would have needed Board of Selectmen approval if he were increasing capacity, as that would have changed his liquor license.
