Street light repairs going to Town Meeting
Sep 24, 2014
Municipal Maintenance Department Director David Menard will be asking Town Meeting voters for $25,000 next month to repair municipal street lights.
Menard said the department had a contract for the maintenance of the lights from 2009-2014 that ran out in the spring.
"I can't tell you how many calls we're getting about it. People don't understand how we can't have the funds to fix the street lights and we truly don't," said Town Administrator Derek Sullivan.
Sullivan said the $25,000 would be transferred from the town's free cash (a community’s remaining, unrestricted funds from operations of the previous fiscal year) if the measure passed at Town Meeting.
Menard said there about 1790 streetlights in town and there are, "quite a few out."
