Student recognized for exceptional achievements

Mar 31, 2021

The Board of Selectmen recognized the many achievements of Cecilia Bottino, a senior at Wareham High School, through a proclamation.

Bottino is a student in the top 20 percent of her class, and is involved in many clubs and activities. She has received the Wareham High Viking Ship award three times, and was chosen as the best actress at a festival she attended with the Wareham Viking Theatre Company.

Recently, she attended the 2021 Knovva Academy's G20 Virtual Summit on Climate Change and the Future of Humanity. The summit brought students from around the globe together for four days of learning about the climate crisis and brainstorming solutions.

In addition to her many academic and extracurricular activities, Bottino works part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer.

“Cecilia Bottino is not only an exceptionally well-rounded student at Wareham High School, she is also a role-model for all the citizens of Wareham,” Selectman Judith Whiteside read from the proclamation.

Bottino was grateful for the recognition.

“We’re very proud of her,” said Letitia Bottino, Cecilia’s mother. “We could take a little bit of the credit, but it’s mostly her.”
