Students recognized for performance on PSAT

May 1, 2010

Five Wareham High School students have been invited to participate in the 2011 National Merit Program's College Reporting Service after scoring 201 or above on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

The students are: George Andrews, Katelin Gleason, Sean Kinsky, Sean Reilly, and Archibald Williams.

Out of the 1.5 million students who took the test, only 50,000 got a selection index score over 201, which is the sum of the three scores from each section of the test. About 16,000 will be named National Merit Program Semifinalists, representing the top scorers in each state. Approximately 34,000 other high scorers will be commended for their performance on the test.

The semifinalists and commended students will learn of their standing in September. Finalists will be chosen in February; winners will be announced in March. Winners receive one of three Merit Scholarship awards.
