Successful first Octoberfest train ride to the Cape and back

Oct 30, 2016

The Cape Cod Central Railroad ran a special skeleton service on the Friday before Halloween: A scenic ride to Sandwich and back for the Wareham Village Association's first ever Octoberfest.

More than 250 people boarded on Merchants Way for the three-hour, adults-only event. Passenger Jackie Szyndler said the ride was the perfect thing for her and her friends to do before attending a Halloween party later in the evening.

Szyndler noted that she "got all [her] best people together" to support her friend, Wareham Village Association President Tracy McGraw, who owns Bladez Hair Salon on High Street.

A smiling McGraw traveled through the train cars, handing out festive beaded necklaces during the ride.

Fare for the evening included cheese, crackers, fruits, and pretzels, and a cash bar.
