Wareham Police made an arrest for an outstanding warrant on Thursday, Sept. 13 after Officer Micheal Phinney noticed an individual behaving suspiciously at Gia Auto Sales on Cranberry Highway.

Officer Phinney observed the man, Darryl Green, 46, of Wareham looking into vehicles at the lot of Gia Auto Sales around 11:45 p.m. several hours after the business had closed.

Officer James White was called in to assist and approached Green, who began to walk away before being stopped by Officer Phinney who pulled in the lot with his cruiser to cut off Green’s avenue of flight.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that Green had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Falmouth District Court. Green was placed in custody by officer and the building and vehicles were reported as secure.

“This is just another example of our officers’ diligence while on patrol,” said Acting Police Chief John Walcek. “A wanted person looking in cars, at a closed business, late at night was observed by officers and placed under arrest.”
