A swan-of-a-kind vintage store comes to Onset
Offering vintage goods, furniture and antiques from across the pond, Vintage Swan opened its doors to bring old items to new homes.
The store located at 255 Onset Avenue is owned by Amy Banzi of Plymouth and is a "mix" of European wares. Banzi also operates and manages the Vintage Swan in Buzzards Bay which focuses on local vendor-made items.
Banzi said everything in the Onset location is sourced directly from England and France, with the idea to create the new shop coming from local artist Trevor Watson.
"Trevor owns the building and we met at my other store and he asked if I'd be interested," Banzi said. "I came into this building and walked into the door and said, "absolutely." Because it's just— gorgeous."
The store offers a cozy vibe to anyone who saunters in the door, something Banzi has worked hard to achieve. With vintage wood, old glassware and trinkets lining the walls she surrounded herself with what was familiar.
"This is what my house looks like," she said. "It's got the old farmhouse feel."
Open for just over three weeks, Banzi said the response to the store has been good. With future events planned to bring the community into her home-y feeling space, she said there's a lot to look forward to.
"I can't wait for the hustle and bustle of day to day life when it's nice weather out— people walking up and down the street," she said.
As the new year commences, plans are in the works for meet-the-artist events for the end of January and for Valentine's Day. With the community welcoming her with open arms, she sees potential in the town she's been coming to visit for the past 22 years.
"I used to take my son to take walks on the beach and this community has changed so much," she said. "It's so beautiful and it has even more potential."
The Vintage Swan is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located next to Tide and True.
