Sylvania Andrews, 83
Sylvania E. Andrews, 83, passed on April 21 at Tremont Health Care Center in Wareham. She was the wife of the late Domingo J. Andrews, Sr.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Agnes (Correia) Silva. A longtime resident of Wareham, she was a homemaker. A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family. During the Korean War, Mrs. Andrews served in the U.S. Army Women’s Army Corps from 1952 to 1954. At the time of her discharge, she held the rank of sergeant.
She is survived by her children, Doreen Silvia and her husband Anthony of Middleboro, Denise McDowell and her husband Seref and Domingo J. Andrews, Jr. and his wife Debra all of Wareham, Michael Andrews of New Bedford and Lisa Andrews of Taunton; her siblings, Rebecca Figueroa of Wareham, Leroy Pina of Lawrence, Walter Silva of Wareham, Samuel Nunes of New Bedford and Catherine Silva of Providence, Rhode Island. Also surviving are six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, the late Agnes Andrews; her sister, the late Maryann Figueroa and her brothers, the late Manuel Silva and Richard Pina.
Her funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham on Thursday, April 27 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
