Tenth anniversary for Tastes and Sounds fundraiser
The Massachusetts Children’s Relief’s Tastes and Sounds: Tapas 10 will be held Saturday, Sept. 26 at Salerno’s in Onset Village. This year is the 10th anniversary of the fundraising event, and will showcase the best dishes, décor and music of the past nine years.
"We were initially MA to LA Children's Relief, providing support to Katrina Kids at our pen pal school in Slidell, Louisiana. The first two Tastes & Sounds reflected that being our Gulf Coast and the Caribbean," Morrison said. "As Slidell got its own relief in place, they asked us to continue our programs, but turn efforts toward our own community."
Tastes & Sounds – Tapas 10 proceeds support Turning Point Day Resource Center for the Homeless & Nearly Homeless. This year’s event also supports Wareham High School’s Best Buddies Program.
The 21-dish buffet begins at 6:30 p.m. Businesses and families have donated time, talent, gift cards, and products to create the dining experience. Each guest will receive a goodie bag and program book with the evening’s recipes. There will be door prizes, free raffles, and a silent auction.
Tickets are $40 prior to the event, and any remaining tickets are $45 at the door from 6 to 7 p.m. Ticket sites are Gallery Consignment Shoppe, Music of the Bay and Plymouth County Teachers Federal Credit Union. For more information and the dinner menu, contact Sally Morrison at sammorrision@comcast.net or 508-295-7410.
In the past nine years, Taste and Sounds has raised over $35,000 for Turning Point, as well as supported Hurricane Katrina Kids, the Boys and Girls Club, Onset Youth Center, Guyan Rescue (Hurricane Sandy and Oklahoma tornadoes relief), WHS Best Buddies and individual local kids with life threatening medical challenges.
