Texas holdem tournament to support local Boston Marathon runner's race for charity

Wareham resident Donna Simmons is raising money for to support the Perkins School For The Blind. Simmons will be running the 115th Boston Marathon in April to benefit the charity. On Saturday March 27 , she will be holding a Texas Holdem Tournament at Salerno's, located at 196 Onset Ave in Onset to help rally donations.

Registration is between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on the day of the game. The competition will start promptly at 2:30 p.m. There is a $25 buy-in for all players.

There will also be a 50/50 raffle, a cash bar, and a full selection from Marc Anthony’s menu available to all those attending.

In 2005 Simmons weighed 245 pounds. She changed her diet  and started to exercise. By 2006 she was down to 170 pounds and is now about to run her first marathon.
