There is Samoa where that came from: The cookie selling masters of Girl Scout Troop 64968
Thin Mints, Samoas and Tagalongs… oh my!
The Wareham Girl Scout Troop 64968 is setting up tables all across town as cookie-selling season is afoot. With patrons of the 7/11 at 3 Barker Road gasping in glee as they entered for their usual snacks, the scouts saw a successful day of sales Saturday, Jan. 24.
Faith Coste, Chelsea Smith and Ainslee Manduca poised their selling table at the entrance to the store, the trio all rasing money to attend camp later on in the year. With dozens of boxes and the question of, "would you be interested in buying cookies?" ready to go, the team had already made progress an hour in.
"If each girl sells 500 boxes of cookies we get to go camping," said Ainslee who when asked, couldn't decide between her two favorite flavors.
As for Faith and Chelsea, Peanut Butter Patties are a shared favorite. Each scout had prepared to inform guests about the newest cookie to the mix, the Exploremores.
Inspired by Rocky Road ice cream, the sandwich cookies have two chocolate wafers with chocolate, marshmallow, and toasted almond-flavored cream in between.
"They're kind of like Oreos with chocolate instead of vanilla," said Chelsea.
Faith, who was inspired to join Girl Scouts by her older sister, said it takes confidence in order to sell the cookies. The trio do all of the sales work, including bagging up the boxes for their patrons, while troop leaders handle the payments and money.
Those interested in catching the scouts again can find them outside of Shaws on Cranberry Highway right before the big game. The troop will be selling again Saturday, Feb. 7.
