Take flight

Fly over to the Wareham Free Library for this outdoor event as it introduces children to the principles of flight and rocketry. 

The show Mad Science-The Flight Stuff will take place at 59 Marion Road on Thursday, Aug. 14 from 2 to 3 p.m. 

In this show, the Mad Scientists will introduce concepts such as lift, drag and thrust while conducting experiments with paper airplanes to balloons, all the way to launching rockets. This program is free and no registration required. 

Not all who wonder are lost

Explore the world with Sharon Elder and join in on her adventures solo travelling around the world.

Elder traveled around the world for 14 months from 2023 and 2024 and is ready to share her adventures with the community.

Elder will be hosting an educational evening on Thursday, Aug. 14 and Thursday Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Parkwood Beach Club House, located at 23 Datewood Street. 

Elder traveled to 20 countries and across 68,000 miles in 406 days. Each session will dive into Elder’s trip with an overview of her travels. 

Along with unpacking her trip, Elder will also be sharing practical tips for authentic travel. Light refreshments will be served.

Tuesday trails

Join Wareham Land Trust Executive Director Alexandra Zollo on a walk through the Douglass S. Westgate conservation area Tuesday, Aug. 19.

The 1.5 mile walk will begin at 29 Papermill Road at 10 and conclude at 11:30 a.m.

The event is free and the land trust recommends bringing water, bug spray, sun screen and layers. No registration required.
