Thomas M. Mears, 71
Thomas M. Mears, 71, of West Wareham, died at home on June 1, after a long illness. He was the husband of Catherine M. (Humes) Mears and the son of the late Frank T. and Ruth H. (Menard) Mears.
He was born in Holyoke and lived in Quincy before moving to Wareham in 1972.
Mr. Mears worked as an appliance repairman at Sears in Norwell for many years before retiring. He then worked as a weekend custodian at the Wareham Lodge of Elks.
He loved hunting, fishing, and target shooting. He was a life member of the Wankinquoah Rod and Gun Club and the Wareham Lodge of Elks #1548 and a former Elk of the Year.
Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Mary Biasiucci of Wareham and 2 sons, Thomas P. Mears and Michael C. Mears both of Wareham; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Frank T. Mears, Jr.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham. Burial will follow in Centre Cemetery.
Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
