Wareham's schools will have a little extra spending money thanks to a fundraiser held in Melissa Drake's name.
Steve Beranger, owner of Stevie B's Onset Sports Resort, presented two checks totaling $7,571 to Wareham Schools Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Shaver-Hood Tuesday evening as a result of a Sept. 20 fundraiser in honor of Melissa Drake.
"A lot of people knew her and cared for her and it showed on Sept. 20," said Beranger.
Beranger said he would like to see the $500 check spent on doors and a new sign at Decas Elementary School and the $7,071 spent on technology for the children of Wareham.
Drake worked for 34 years in Wareham Public Schools, retiring as an assistant principal.
