Three suspects in May 17 home invasion held without bail
Three suspects accused of a home invasion and rape in East Wareham are being held without bail after a dangerousness hearing on Tuesday, May 22.
The three defendants are 18-year-old Kendrick Williams of 7 Water Street in East Wareham, 17-year-old Justin Gomes of 294 Main Street, Apartment 3A in Wareham, and 18-year-old Robert Brown Jr. of 393B Onset Avenue, Apartment 2 in Onset.
Chilling details about the events were discussed during the hearing while attorneys examined and cross-examined two Wareham Police officers -- lead investigator Michael Smith and Detective William DeSilva -- who were investigateing the home invasion, which occurred just after 12 a.m. on Thursday, May 17.
According to victim testimonies found in the police reports and police testimony during the hearing, three to four suspects described as wearing dark clothing and masks covering the lower portion of their faces brandished firearms and entered the house. The suspects allegedly raped a 21-year-old female victim using a writing utensil. A suspect also raped a 49-year-old female victim using his fist. The suspects also allegedly stole cash and jewelry from the house.
The attorneys for the defendants asserted after the hearing that the 3 defendants in the hearing were not involved in the rape.
The suspects entered the home at approximately 12:15 a.m. after attempting to kick in the rear door and found an 18-year-old male victim playing video games on his computer.
The suspects struck the victim on the side of the face with a firearm, according to the police report, and kicked him several times after ordering him to the ground.
Later investigation by the police found severe bruising on the side of the 18-year-old male victim's face as well as marks on the rear door consistent with kicking, according to the police report.
The investigation also revealed that another witness, a friend of the 18-year-old male victim who was playing the computer game with the male victim online, heard through the computer: "get down, get down, get the [expletive] down!" according to Detective Smith's testimony on Tuesday.
The suspects then repeatedly asked where the 21-year-old female victim, the sister of the 18-year-old male victim, was located in the house, according to the police report.
While receiving treatment at Tobey Hospital, the female victim reported that she was sleeping in her upstairs bedroom when she heard boys yelling, according to the police report.
The female victim called 911, after which a tall black male who she recognized as Robert Brown, the ex-boyfriend of a friend, entered her room, according to the police report.
The female victim also recognized another male with the nickname "Trigger," who had been harassing her at work several times over the past couple of weeks, according to the police report. "Trigger" was later determined to be Kendrick Williams.
Brown and Williams allegedly stole approximately $200 worth of cash and jewelry from the female victim's room and left the bedroom, according to police reports.
The female victim tried to go downstairs to help her brother and was ordered back into the room by a shorter black male, the police report said. After running back into her room and locking the door, the same male forced open the door and pushed her to the floor, according to the police report. That male then pulled down the victim's pants and used an foreign object to rape her, according to the police report.
A second 49-year-old female was sleeping with her boyfriend on a first-floor bedroom when the suspects first entered the house, according to the police report.
Suspects entered into her room and forced her boyfriend to the floor, according to police testimony. The suspects then went through the female victim's purse and jewelry box and stole $50 worth of cash and several pieces of jewelry, according to the police report.
A suspect then told the female victim to pull her pants down, according to the report. He then raped her with his fist as she was crying and begging him to stop, according to the police report. The female victim believed that the suspect was beginning to pull his pants down when he was called by the other suspects and left the bedroom, according to the police report.
The defendants will next appear in Wareham Fourth District Court for a probable cause hearing on June 15.
A fourth suspect, 20-year-old Brian Santiago of Wareham, was arrested around 2 a.m. on Tuesday in Savannah Georgia during a "planned bus trip," according to a Wareham Police statement.
