Tigers fall to Browns, 28-20, at National Championships in Florida

The Wareham Tigers B-squad lost their first game of the season on Saturday, Dec. 7, to the Gilroy Browns of Calif. The final score was 28-20.

The game was part of the Pop Warner National Championships at the Disney Wide World of Sports complex in Florida. This was the Tigers' first-ever appearance in the championships.

The Tigers led throughout the first half, and were helped by missed extra-point attempts by the Browns.

At halftime, the Tigers led, 14-12.

The Tigers came roaring into the third quarter, scoring on their first drive.

With the score 20-12, the Browns then found momentum. They answered the Tigers' third quarter score with one of their own, evening the score late in the quarter, 20-20.

In the final quarter, a 4th and one for the Tigers presented itself.The Tigers called timeout to discuss the situation.

The play would result in the officials needing to bring out the chains to measure whether or not the Tigers got the first down.

The Tigers were short.

After holding the Tigers on 4th and one, the Browns later drove in for the eventual game-winning touchdown.

This will not be the last game of the Tigers' historic season.

They will play again on Tues., Dec. 10, at 1:15 p.m. against the North Raleigh Bulldogs. The game will not be shown on ESPN 3.
