Time to fundraise for the fireworks

July may seem far away as temperatures fluctuate between 55-degree cloudy days and 75-degree days filled with sunshine, but it's already on the minds of the members of the Onset-Wareham Fireworks Committee.
The committee fundraises for the Onset-Wareham Fireworks event, which draws hundreds to view the spectacular annual display over Onset Beach. This year's event is scheduled for July 7. The show begins at dusk.
The Fireworks Committee needs to come up with $20,000 to purchase the fireworks. It officially kicked off its fundraising campaign on Wednesday, April 18.
The cost of the event "adds up very quickly," noted Mary Lou Payton of fireworks committee and Onset Bay Association.

The committee will also host the second annual Onset-Wareham Fireworks Fundraiser, which will feature an auction, at Mezza Luna in Bourne on June 7 at 5:30 p.m. Tickets will cost $10 at the door.
"It's a celebration," Fireworks Committee member Layne White said of the fundraiser. "Everyone's excited for the fireworks!"
