'Tis the season for volunteering at Damien's Food Pantry

Dec 13, 2016

This holiday season, Damien’s Place Food Pantry will get a helping hand from a few Wareham High School students.

On Friday, Henry Fernandes, assistant director at the Wareham-based organization, welcomed three students at the pantry, located at 3065 Cranberry Highway.

After a brief tour, the students – Andrew Bell, Louis Almeida and Cullen Vercellone – got to work sorting donations in preparation for when the pantry opens on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

“This is when we need the most help, and we’re grateful that the students are able to help out,” said Fernandes.

Founded in 1992, the pantry is dedicated to helping feed individuals and families in need in the greater New Bedford/Wareham area.

Fernandes said that Damien’s is always in need of volunteers to help the pantry fulfill its mission. For more information or to volunteer, call 508-295-3486 or email: castcord@verizon.net.
