Town administrator helps Swifts Beach 'shine'

Aug 16, 2011

To the Editor:

The Swifts Beach community is grateful for the efforts of Town Administrator Mark Andrews, along with Mark Gifford of the Municipal Maintenance department, who arranged to remove the very dangerous and unsightly fence on the east end of the conservation land at Swifts Beach.

They have been very responsive to our efforts to revitalize the park on Circle Drive. We, the Improvement Association, provided the volunteers. The town, through both of these gentlemen, provided the supplies.

The fresh coat of paint is the first part of the plan. Next the town will replace the swings, the picnic tables, and the basketball hoop that vandals have destroyed. Fixing up the park will add so much to our neighborhood.

Mr. Andrews has made a great difference in this part of the town. The winter snow removal has been greatly improved. The summer streets have been swept. The lifeguards and the police on bicycles improve the safety of the area. The increase in police patrols adds to our sense of security. The potholes on some of our tiny streets still need town attention.

A number of additional covered trash receptacles will add to the beauty of our lovely beach. The beaches of Wareham are our BEST asset. Mr. Andrews is helping us shine.
