Town establishes new committee to review all zoning bylaws
The Select Board has established a new committee aimed at helping the planning board review all zoning bylaws to propose changes at next year’s spring Town Meeting.
The Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw Review and Revision Steering Committee will be made up of seven people to review all zoning bylaws according to Director of Planning Josh Faherty.
“The committee is going to provide a lot of oversight and guidance to the planning board,” Faherty told the Select Board in their Aug. 19 meeting. “The committee will act as a liaison between consultants and town staff, review draft materials and ensure the bylaws work for Wareham.”
The committee will consist of two Planning Board members, a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, a Select Board member, two engineers and legal counsel. The specific committee members will be chosen in the Select Board’s Sept. 2 meeting.
“Ideally the steering committee is going to improve communication between town boards and the public, hold multiple public hearings and we’re going to try and get in front of many different boards to get a lot of feedback,” he said. “We also want to have strong community engagement.”
