Town plows on

Municipal Maintenance, others still digging in Wareham

With nearly two feet of snow on the ground and snow drifts that are much higher, the town Municipal Maintenance department has been limited with the types of equipment it can use, according to Town Administrator Derek Sullivan.

"Due to the amount of snow that we received yesterday our Municipal Maintenance department is only able to use large equipment to plow our streets," Sullivan said Wednesday morning. "The department is working as fast as they can to clear every street. They will continue to work throughout the day."

He added, "If you contact the Municipal Maintenance department they will not be able to provide you with specific information about your street."

Sullivan also said the bombardier machine that removes snow from sidewalks broke down yesterday during snow removal efforts. Because of that the sidewalks will take more time to clear, he said.
