Town sees spike in covid cases
The town is seeing a spike in coronavirus cases, Town Administrator Derek Sullivan reported at the January 5 Board of Selectman’s meeting.
Over the past two weeks, Sullivan said, there have been 155 new confirmed covid cases. There have been 92 new cases in the past week.
“We’re having a pretty good spike,” Sullivan said.
Over the last month, ten Wareham residents have died from the coronavirus.
“When you think about it, we’ve had 856 cases since March, so over 18 percent of our total cases since the beginning have happened over the last two weeks. So this is pretty alarming,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan asked members of the community to be as cautious as possible, wear their masks, and stay home when they can.
“Obviously, we’re still working at Town Hall, so we understand people still have to go to work, but take as many precautions as possible. It’s running pretty darn good through our community,” Sullivan said.
