Tropical storm Henri mostly misses Wareham

Aug 22, 2021

In the days leading up to tropical storm Henri’s arrival in Wareham, forecasts predicted the storm was headed right toward town, and could be a category 1 hurricane when it made landfall.

Boat owners worked to get their vessels out of the water, people around town stocked up on flashlights and gallons of water, and then – the forecast changed. The storm’s path skewed east, and Wareham saw mostly rain and some moderate winds.

The Department of Natural Resources reported on Sunday afternoon that the department had no incidents to report on the waterfront.

Shellfishing will reopen at daybreak on Monday across town. Little Harbor Beach has also been reopened.
