The jaws of life were needed when a truck hit a telephone guide pole Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 1 p.m., on Swifts Beach Road, just past Lynne Road. According to police broadcasts, the operator of the Ford F-150 struck the guide pole in such a way that the pole was lying across the car.

Jaws of life were needed to extricate the driver, who was then evaluated by Wareham EMS.

The driver was transported via ambulance to Tobey Hospital.

Eversource was notified of the accident and arrived to repair the pole. The accident scene was clear by 3:30 p.m., with Eversource finishing clearing the damaged pole.
