Two Wareham student nurses have won $1,000 and $500 from the Dr. Thomas Gleason Scholarship Committee.

The $1,000 scholarship went to Grace Cerrato, who is studying medicine at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. Cerrato is currently a certified nursing assistant and honor student. She wants to become a physician, with a special interest in cancer research. 

The $500 scholarship went to Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School Valedictorian Abigail Goodwin, who plans to study nursing at Merrimack College in Andover. 

Goodwin is also a certified nursing assistant who works at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Cape Cod, located in Sandwich.

The Dr. Thomas Gleason Scholarships are awarded annually to honor their namesake, Wareham’s longtime physician, who died in 2020.
