UPDATE: Route 6 reopened after car snaps utility pole

A vehicle hit and snapped a utility pole at approximately 2:58 a.m. Saturday morning in the area of Kool Kone, temporarily closing Route 6 until two lanes were reopened Saturday afternoon.

According to Wareham Fire Department Captain Paul Reidy, two people were injured in the accident and transported to Tobey Hospital by Wareham EMS, though both were seen up and walking after the accident. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

Reidy said vehicle hit a pole that held three transformers, downing several utility wires connected to the pole.

According to a Wareham Police Department alert on the Nixle Alert App, the road was closed as of 7:51 a.m.
