Wareham Elks donates to Toys for Tots

Dec 22, 2014

The Wareham/New Bedford Lodge of Elks #73 presented the Toys for Tots program sponsored by the Massachusetts State Police with toys and financial donations on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

In addition to the gifts, a check from the Lodge was presented to the program with the two lieutenants from the Bourne and Dartmouth Barracks receiving the gifts.

Funds and gifts were obtained through a fundraiser held at the Lodge organized by Jonie Hackett and the House Committee. Entertainment was also provided by Jack Nasty.

A large portion of the funds were garnered by the sale of “stockings” that were sold to the members by Jonie Hackett, which were then hung in the members lounge. The South District Past Exalted Rulers Association presented a check to the program by Past Exalted Ruler Robert Hurley.

Attending officers thanked the Lodge, and a brief explanation about how the toys will be used was given by Lt. Jim Plath.
