Wareham family stars in upcoming play

The Record family of Wareham will be starring in the upcoming production of “Gypsy” at The Alley Theatre in Middleboro. As professional dancers, singers, comedians and all-around entertainers, the Record family members are no strangers to the stage.

Scott Record will be playing Herbie in "Gypsy." Scott grew up in Middleboro and moved to New York in 1978, where he got his start opening for comedian Rodney Dangerfield. Since then, Scott has worked with many stars, including Ann Margret, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Tim McGraw, Tony Bennett, more. Scott has performed at venues across the country and was recently voted the Best Variety Act of the Year by Atlantic City Magazine.

Scott lives in both Sherman Oaks, California and Wareham with his wife Lucy. A dancer and choreographer, Lucy will be playing the role of Tessie Tura in “Gypsy.” Lucy has been named best choreographer by the Santa Monica Theatre Guild several years in a row, and also won first place in the Drama Teachers Association of Southern California Competition for middle schools for her work with “The Music Man.”

Scott and Lucy's daughter Hannah will be playing Louise in “Gypsy.” This spring she graduated from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a BFA in Musical Theatre.

“Gypsy” opens Thursday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. and runs on Friday, Aug. 21 at 7p.m., Saturday, Aug. 22 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and closes on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 3 p.m at The Alley Theatre. Tickets are $20 per person. The Alley Theatre is located at 133 Center St. behind The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts. Free parking is available in the Middleboro Town Hall.
