Wareham Garden Club scholarship winners announced

The winners of three $1,000 Wareham Garden Club scholarships have been announced. 

The recipients include:

• Alani Medeiros — Upper Cape Regional Technical High School student who plans to major in sustainable food farming, agricultural Sciences or geological Sciences. She is currently employed 60 hours a week at a garden center. 

• Corinne De Angelis — Upper Cape Regional Technical High School student who plans to major in geology, marine sciences or ocean engineering. She is currently employed at Enviro Tech Lab. 

• Olivia Gowell — Bishop Stang High School student who plans to major in chemical or biochemical engineering. She is currently involved with the Green Team as their secretary. 

The scholarship recipients were described by the club’s Scholarship Committee as Wareham residents who were successful academically, “involved with community service” and “whose goals align closely with the  garden club’s objectives.”

A committee press release said: “The field of applicants was impressive; all these students are focused, empathetic, passionate and incredibly gifted. [...] The Club is very proud of these graduates, their achievements and their dreams.
