Wareham Garden Club's plant sale offers new taste

May 22, 2016

A tasty new tradition took root this year at the Wareham Garden Club’s annual Plant and Bake Sale – herb tasting.

Held Saturday at the Methodist Meeting House on Main Street, the event offered free samples of tomato-basil soup, rosemary cookies, lavender lemonade and more.

“All the herbs are from our own gardens,” said Club Vice President Peter LaBouliere. “We wanted to educate people about using their own herbs in recipes.”

In addition to the herb tasting tent, the event featured house plants, garden tools and baked goods for sale. Proceeds from the sale went to support the Garden Club's scholarship and civic programs.

With sunny skies overhead, LaBouliere said the sale was a hit.

“The long lines at the cashier’s table says it all,” he said.
