Wareham gardens show flowers and flair
The Wareham Garden Club held its annual Garden and Kitchens Tour to showcase the beauty and creativity of Wareham gardeners, and it did not disappoint those who took the tour on Friday or Saturday. This year's tour included eight homes, spread from West Wareham to Cromesett Road to Sias Point.
Starting at the Wareham Public Library with a showing of a joint project between the Arbor Day Foundation and the Dimensions Educational Research Foundation, garden pilgrims traveled to Cromesett Road for two gardens, to Main Street for a tour of the historic colonial Mackie Manse home and gardens, and then off Tihonet Road, and finally to three Buzzards Bay-hugging homes. The garden pilgrims were rewarded with an enormous range of landscape and home designs, as well as the pleasure of meeting the owners to talk about their garden and home passions.
Proceeds from the Garden Club's events will help fund several community projects, including; civic beautification; monthly garden therapy at the Gateway Adult Center; Educational Programs and; the Scholarship Program that awards grants to an area senior who is planning to further their education with a focus on horticulture, agriculture, the environment, earth sciences, biology, or conservation.
