The Wareham Gatemen will be hosting a free movie night at Spillane Field at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, with a rain date on July 29.

Using their new video scoreboard, the Gatemen will screen “The Sandlot,” a PG-rated movie about a neighborhood baseball team.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. 

Attendees can watch from the stands or bring beach chairs and blankets to lounge in the outfield. 

Glen Hannington, the team’s vice-president, said he anticipates “a good time for all.”

Gatemen President Tom Gay said that the team might host more movie nights in the future. People have already pitched “Field of Dreams,” “Angels in the Outfield” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” as future featured flicks.
