Wareham High to host second annual Arts Fair

Mar 31, 2010

Wareham High School will host the second annual Arts Fair from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 1. Student work, along with the Art Beyond Borders Traveling Exhibit, will be displayed at the fair.

The fair features all five forms of art: visual, music, storytelling, drama, and movement, with musical performances, an open-mic, a henna artist, and professional artists demonstrating how they do their work. The Garden Club will be presenting container gardens.

"This is to showcase everything [students] have been working on all year long," said art teacher Amy Dion.

The Art Beyond Borders exhibit is a partnership of Teacher's Discovery and The International Museum of Twenty-first Century Arts (TIMOTCA). The goal of TIMOTCA is to collect a piece of art from an artist in every country in the world to serve as a catalyst for peace and cultural understanding through the universal language of art. To date, 63 countries participate. The traveling exhibit will feature 24 of those works.

Admission to the fair is free. There will be a bake sale to benefit Wareham High School art programs, however, so bring your appetite for food as well as art!
