Wareham High School has been named the 149th best high school in the state by US News and World Report.

This is the first time the school has appeared on the best-of list, according to school officials.

“That’s a big deal for Wareham to be on that list and part of that energy,” said Assistant Superintendent Dr. Andrea Schwamb at Thursday night’s School Committee meeting. “I think we have a lot to be proud of.”

The rankings are based on a number of factors, including college readiness, math and reading proficiency, math and reading performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth, and graduation rate.
