The Wareham Historical Society has a number of events scheduled for the rest of August, including a joint presentation with other local historical societies.

On Aug 21., the Wareham Historical Society, the Bourne Historical Society and the Bournedale Schoolhouse are jointly holding a special speaker program on Jonathan Bourne Jr., (1811-1889) who was one of New Bedford’s most prosperous whaling agents and merchants.

The presentation will be given by Brian Witkowski, New Bedford Whaling Museum director of apprentices and interns.

The event will start at 7 p.m. at the Methodist Meeting House at 495 Main St. Admission for this fundraiser program is $5. Refreshments will be served after the presentation. For more information, call Angela M. Dunham, Historical Society president, at 508-295-8578.

On Aug. 30, the Wareham Historical Society will play host to local singer/songwriter Grace Morrison, for an evening of Folk and Americana music. Morrison is a Wareham native, who has performed at the Zeiterion Theater, The Narrows Center for the Arts, The Spire Center for the Arts, New Bedford Folk Festival, Muses in the Vineyard and The Gratitude Festival. Her latest album is titled "Redemption."

The concert will be at 5 p.m. at the Methodist Meeting House, 495 Main St. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for kids. An old fashioned ice cream social will follow Grace’s lively performance.
