With back to back playoff games this past weekend, the Jr. Vikings Middle School hockey team had an intense and emotional couple of days.

On Friday night in Raynham, the Jr. Vikings took on Bridgewater/Raynham in a semi-final playoff game.

The boys skated with intensity and outplayed the opponent, but an extremely large and talented Bridgewater/Raynham goal keeper prevented the Jr. Vikings from putting many points on the scoreboard.

Wareham did manage to sneak one past with a goal from Connor Kelley and assists from Mike Houdellette and Alex Atkinson.

Later in the third period, Bridgewater/Raynham put one through the pipes to end the game in a 1-1 tie. Chase Cunningham and Teaghan Andre were outstanding in goal for Wareham.

On Saturday night in Foxboro, both teams took to the ice again. Unfortunately the outcome was a heartbreaker for the Vikings.

For two periods both teams battled it out to a scoreless tie. Wareham had many shots on net, hitting the post several times as the Jr. Vikings clearly outplayed Bridgewater/Raynham.

Wareham had many chances but just couldn't capitalize. It was Bridgewater/Raynham scoring first with a goal in the third period.

Several minutes later, a goal from Sean Fagan assisted by Brian Holmes put Wareham right back in the game.

With four minutes of play left, Bridgewater/Raynham scored again to take the lead.

With a huge crowd of Wareham fans cheering them on, the Jr. Vikings battled and fought until the end, but after pulling goalie Chase Cunningham, Bridgewater/Raynham connected to the open net with just seconds left to clinch the 3-1 win.

"It was an amazing game played by the boys, but they came out on the short end", said Coaches Howie Ladd and Bill Kelley. "We couldn't be any happier with the way they played and skated their hearts out.This team has been incredible this year! To have watched them grow and work as a team has been so rewarding to us. To get that far and to that game and to finish in the top three in the first year of that league, is amazing in itself."

"We'd like to thank all the fans that came and filled the stands to cheer the boys on. It was just overwhelming. The boys should be proud of the way they played the game and each and everyone is a winner as far as we're concerned."
