Wareham Land Trust bringing Turtle Journal team to Wareham
Through the magic of digital media, Don Lewis and Sue Wieber Nourse will transform Wareham’s Old Methodist Meeting House into the Atlantic coastline on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m.
The Wareham Land Trust is hosting the event, during which organizers say adventurers from age five to 95 can experience the thrill of rescuing the world’s most endangered sea turtles.
Participants will come face to face with five species of sea turtles that frequent Massachusetts waters, and “rescue” a half-ton leviathan, a female leatherback entangled in Cape Cod Bay.
Lewis, also known as “the turtle guy,” has had his research and rescue featured on National Geographic TV, and his efforts have been chronicled in national, regional, and local media.
Nourse is a research scientist, marine biologist, and the CEO of Cape Cod Consultants, an environmental solutions company specializing in wildlife management and critical habitat assessments.
