Wareham Little League celebrates end of season with award ceremony

The Wareham Little League field was lined with players on July 27 to celebrate the end of the league's 12-week season.

More than 150 Little Leaguers from age 8 to 12 were awarded medals for their efforts on the field.

The Wareham 12U Little League all-star team placed second in the league's championship tournament on Sunday, July 24, after losing to Old Rochester 9-2.

The Wareham Little League Player of the Year will be named on Saturday, August 20 during the 3rd Annual Memorial Baseball Tournament hosted by the Joseph X. Vaconcelos Memorial Scholarship Fund.

There is a Little League tournament game to be held at 9 a.m., followed by an Adult League tournament game at noon.

The event will be held at at Spillane Field. Registration for the games can be done the day of the games. The cost for adults is $25. There is no cost for children.

All the proceeds go towards the Joseph X. Vaconcelos Memorial Scholarship Fund.
