Wareham locals featured on the big screen
Hollywood fans in Wareham can now see one of their own on the big screen.
Wareham residents Flo and Joanne Byron are both featured in director Wes Anderson's newly released movie "Moonrise Kingdom."
"I just like doing it, I enjoy it," said Flo about her experiences acting. "For me, it's like being away from work."
The actresses filmed their scenes last year in the city of Newport, Rhode Island.
The pair are both members of the Screen Actors Guild and have had been in various films.
Flo, who has been acting for 20 years, she said, has been in the movies "27 Dresses," "The Brotherhood Two," and "Jumanji" amongst many others.
She is also heading over to Water Wizz on Cranberry Highway in East Wareham to be in the movie "The Way, Way Back," part of which is being filmed at the water park.
In "Moonrise Kingdom," both actresses play recent immigrants to America in the "cathedral scene," Flo said.
The atmosphere on set was rather unique, they said, in that Director Wes Anderson and other lead actors interacted with those playing smaller roles.
A particularly fun experience was with lead actor Bill Murray, who equipped himself with a water gun while on set.
"He's crazy - he kept squirting water at me," Joanne said with a laugh.
Flo Byron was particularly enchanted with Director Wes Anderson.
"The best part of it was knowing the director…I found him to be very smart and sensitive," Flo said.
Regardless of whether it was director or lead actor, the sisters found that the atmosphere was one of the best parts of their latest Hollywood experience.
"It was a very unusual situation - it was a lot of fun," said Joanne, adding later, "it was closely knit."
