Wareham loses to Apponequet, Upper Cape Tech wins Mayflower Small
The Vikings won't be heading to the playoffs, but Upper Cape Tech is still in contention and hoping to defend their state championship title.
Wareham lost to Apponequet 46-16 on Friday October 25, at Spillane Field.
The Vikings are now 1-6 over all, and 1-5 in the South Coast Conference.
The young team has had a toughh year after losing many talented seniors to graduation last year.
While they're out of play-off contention, the Vikings still have some football left to play. Next up, they'll play Medway away on Saturday, November 2.
Upper Cape Tech defeated South Shore Voc-Tech, 41-8, winning the Mayflower Small League, and securing a spot in the Division 5 playoffs.
The team is headed up by senior quarterback Rich Semple of Wareham, who played on the 2012 championship team.
Upper Cape Tech will face off against an opponent who has yet to emerge on November 1, or 2.
Upper Cape Tech has only had a football team since 2010. For years, they had a co-op arrangement with the Bourne Canalmen.
Upper Cape Tech have quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with after winning the Division 5 state championship last year.
