Wareham man charged with unarmed robbery
A Wareham man was charged with unarmed robbery after he stole a woman's pocketbook, and and hid from authorities in a dumpster, according to Wareham Police.
Brian Randall, 39, was arrested on Monday night near the Salvation Army at 3074 Cranberry Highway.
Police said they reported to an incident at the Salvation Army at 7:30 p.m., where it was reported that a man pushed a 59-year-old woman to the ground, stole her pocketbook, and fled on foot.
The woman sustained minor scrapes on her arms and hands, as a result of being pushed to the ground, police said.
After receiving a description of the suspect and the direction in which he ran, Officer Michael Phinney and his K9 partner Rolf found Randall hiding in a nearby business' dumpster, according to police.
Randall was charged with unarmed robbery and assault with intent to rob, and was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at Wareham District Court.
